Benetton's new ad campaign UNHATE is -as common for their ad campaigns- controversial media topic of the last few days. The posters, which are published in every big city worldwide, depict popular people kissing each other. You can see the Federal Chancellor of Germany, Angela Merkel, kissing the chief of state from France, Nicolas Sarkozy, as well as the paramount leader of the people's republic of china, Hu Jintao, kissing Barack Obama, president of the USA. Take a look at it, by clicking on the text.
As you can guess this pictures aren't real, but in fact photomontages. In case of showing pope Benedikt XVI. kissing the Egyptian imam Ahmed al-Tajjeb, Benetton attracted negative attention of the Vatican. Benetton has retracted the picture already.
There are varying reactions. Some people sense the ad campaign as shocking, others see a political message and still others belive the campaign is dealing about bringing out peace.
However, the controverse project is, what it is: an ad campgaign with a moral paint, which is successful by being provocative and -in succession- getting high attention. But just speak for yourselves, by leaving a comment and showing up your personal opinion!
